Sound Water Co. is family-owned and based in Norwalk. We install whole-home water filtration for homes across Fairfield County, and we service it for as long as you have it.
Why I started Sound Water Co.
I started this journey in 2015, when I began paying closer attention to what came out of my tap. I'd been reading about PFAS and other water contaminants (PFAS being the family of industrial compounds that don't break down, which researchers have been studying for decades). I went looking for the annual water quality report my utility mails out every year. The report showed my utility meeting every federal requirement it's held to. That's true across Fairfield County, and the utilities here take it seriously.
But the more I read, the clearer one thing became: many of those federal limits were written decades ago, and the health research hasn't stopped since. Researchers studying long-term PFAS exposure have examined associations with thyroid function, hormone regulation, and reproductive health. Those questions are still active. Most of the federal limits were set before that work existed.
The gap between what the law currently requires and what current research suggests isn't evidence that anything has gone wrong. Regulation moves slowly, mostly for good reasons. I decided my family didn't need to wait for it.
How this became a business
I put a system on my own main line and spent the next several years learning the equipment properly: which media removes what, how sizing affects real-world performance, why a cartridge that works well in one house underperforms two streets over.
Neighbors asked what I'd installed and whether it would do anything at their house. Answering that honestly took more than a few minutes, and it needed their water data rather than mine. That's the work that Sound Water does now.
